Allen Peake, Georgia State Representative, has promised patients and their families that he will do everything to give them access to reputable medicinal cannabis. And that is just what he did.
Representative Peake has admitted that he went across state lines to deliver on his promise. In this case, he obtained medical marijuana for a young patient suffering from a severe seizure disorder. According to him, if what he did is considered a civil disobedience, it doesn’t change the fact that what he did, and what he did it for, was absolutely worth it.
Georgia is under a marijuana policy that lets patients with debilitating and life-threatening conditions have in possession of up to 20 ounces of marijuana oil, the only legal form of cannabis in the state. However, marijuana cultivation remains illegal, wherein lies the problem for most MMP patients.
For Georgia Governor Nathan Deal, whatever Allen Peake’s motivation was, the fact still remains that it was a civil disobedience. And as history shows, those committing any civil disobedience, however good the intent is, must accept the designated consequence.
